A quick note: While Adolin is essentially a good guy, he comes from a culture where eye color is exceptionally important. Those with light-eyes are nobility and those without aren't. It's just the way God Made Things. He's one of the few people who treat dark-eyes with somewhat equal attitude but he still feels like light-eyes are supposed to be on top, so to speak.
This is will probably change as his canon progresses but that's how it stands for now.
